My view of assessments is that formative is as valuable as summative. The big problem is knowing who is being assessed if the test is being taken remotely. Key stroke analysis will only work if there is not someone telling them what to type. On-line vivas could be used to validate a qualification as long as we can be sure it is that individual. We could require students to appear in, say, Skype several times throughout the course.
We discussed the RDA1. The numbers of supervisions and completions should be reversed for Lachlan. I'm lucky to have the supervisors I have. The "investigate" phase should be first. Whilst my interest is in creating an atomised VLE, but that is putting the cart before the horse since this is only one of many possible outcomes for the research.
